Hello,
You remember I've told you that I will not use Backerkit for the survey but will create a google forms as I've done before? So I've started to do it and a week later, I've discover that I had already paid my fees to backerkit to get my pledge manager.
I'm so confused.
Therefore, I've start the survey on Backerkit; it's way more easy to do it for the second time (first time was for my other project The Idol of Cthulhu For those who are not backers of the project). My backerkit coach will send me a feedback this weekend. I hope I've done the job right without too many mistakes.
Before sending you the surveys I also had to create the final Cultish Sculpture found at the Randolph Shipping Company, because the stretch goal had been unlocked.
I crafted the Australian version of Nyarlathotep, like I did the perverted Idol for Kenya. I didn't use Aboriginal material as inspiration even since the statue in Masks of Nyarlathotep is supposed to be an Aboriginal product, but I've made my interpretation of a Nyarlathotep from the Australian waste land as if it was an wooden miniature of the original.. . Of course, it 's a pastiche of an imaginary-ethnic statuette creation and does not pretend to be anything other than a pastiche... I used pentagones because it's not a geometric pattern that is used in Aboriginal art.
I hope will be convincing in your eyes.
Description in the book is as follows :
p464: "Looking down, everyone sees that the weak, softwood crate has splintered, revealing the contents: a grotesque wooden idol about three feet high, seemingly of Aboriginal Australian manufacture, and covered with white-painted, geometric lines. The foul idol is humanoid, without hair, and with strange, round, thick whiskers like tentacles. The creature’s hands and feet end in flipper-like appendages. The eyes are round, with jagged facets, and have a cruel expression "
Here is it:
It's 18cm heigh. I will cast it and paint it like this prototype, like it is carved in a piece of wood, covered by a sticky black material and painted with white chalk.
How do you like it?
If you do, You would be able to add it €85 on your backerkit survey.
Cheers !
Delphes
ps : I got back in touch with Nevil Kingston-Brownone of the author of the Masks Companion, who wrote additional background for some of the Australian items we propose.. More information at the next update !
